A tour of the cute nursery my sister put together for Nixon. My sis made the bedding, curtains, mobile, and wall hangings.
“As soon as I saw you, I knew an Adventure was going to happen”
(The letters are covered with yarn)
Didn’t she do a great job?
We mostly rested at home this weekend. I did some baking and cleaning and we picked up a new puzzle to work on. We spent the evenings reading and watching movies-never watch Contagion. Freaked me out! I think I washed my hands ten times in the next hour after it was over. On Sunday we drove to Wyoming to meet my new nephew- Nixon Clay. He is the super cutest little stud!!
How was your weekend?
We picked up our Bountiful Basket this morning. In addition to our $15 regular basket, I also ordered an Italian Themed Add On Basket for $8.50 this week. Here is what we got surprised with this time around:
5 lbs Potatoes
4 Pink Lady Apples
3 lbs Anjou Pears
Italian Themed Add On Basket ($8.50):
2 Yellow Onions
1 Purple Onion
The whole haul for this week:
So here’s how I plan to use it all:
*Braised Halibut with Pistachios and Lemon and Roasted Herb Potatoes with Feta
*Brie, Ham & Pear Panini’s with Greek Orzo Salad
*Creamy Vegetable Soup (from 400 Calorie Fix)
*Turkey Steak Sandwiches (Turkey Steaks from Maddox) with Pesto Potato Salad
*Mushroom & Caramelized Onion Pizza & Garden Salad
* Lemon Chicken Soup with Orzo
*Lettuce Wraps using Mango BBQ Chicken
*Eggplant Pizzas with Zucchini Parmesan Crisps
Extras, Sides, Desserts:
*Vinegar and Dill Cucumbers (from 400 Calorie Fix)
*We’ll just slice and eat the cantaloupe but I plan to puree some of it and freeze as ice cubes
*Kiwi’s will be added to a Smoothie
*Cinna-Pear Smoothies- I’ll probably still have leftover pears so I may make an Apple & Pear Tart
* Banana Oatmeal Cookies
That’s about it. Looks like a lot, doesn’t it? But it’s really not that bad. The recipes are not complicated and a lot of them I can make ahead of time. As far as the herbs go, I’ll be using some of them fresh and drying the leftovers for future use.
Well, I better get cooking!!
It’s Friday and that means that for me, it’s cleaning day! My house is long overdue for some deep cleaning so I’m excited to work my way through it today. Hubby is recovering from a minor surgery so we don’t have much planned for this weekend except movie marathons. If he’s feeling better by Sunday then we will head to Wyoming to meet my sisters new baby, Nixon. I’m also planning on making some banana bread with my new mini loaf pan.
What are your weekend plans?
I’ve been contemplating a pair of high waisted jeans. Would you wear them? I think they only look good with the right shirt and shoes. I really love these three colors together- for room or dress. I’m on the lookout for an ottoman but it’s got to be just right- not too tall, short, wide, etc. I may try to DIY it if I can find the right base to start with.
Is anyone else a Downton Abbey
(on Masterpiece Theatre) fan? I’m a little late to the party and have only just started season 2, but oh man is it the show for me! I love the historical setting, don’t you?
The hubby had surgery yesterday morning and I stayed home from work to be with him. I’m kind of wishing I had taken today off as well but guilt has me sitting here at my computer instead.
I really don’t like granola bars but I’ve discovered that if they are peanut butter flavored, I love them.
I haven’t been sleeping well lately- well ever- It’s horrible being a light sleeper. Every little noise or movement wakes me right up and I have a terrible time falling back to sleep.
I have an stubborn dance injury from last year that refuses to heal completely. I’d really like to continue teaching but at this point I can’t even demonstrate what I’m trying to teach the kids. I’ve worked through pain before but this is unbearable and I’m afraid of injuring it worse. I’m so incredibly frustrated and have begun to feel defeated about it.
…this lamp that I fell in love with but wasn’t willing to pay $65 for. Luckily for me I found it for half the price at Home Goods and now it makes me grin with happiness every time I walk in the room.
…more pillows. I really wanted geometric pillows for the sofa and now I finally have them.
Just a couple of things, but I’m loving the way this room is finally coming together. It still needs some work, but it finally feels cozy and home-y to me now. We need to paint the walls and although I’d love to whip out the midnight blue, we’ll be going with something more monochromatic to make it more appealing to potential buyers when we decide to move.
ps- pardon our clutter in these photos
Tomorrow it’s back to work, but this weekend we may be heading to Wyoming to meet my new baby nephew!
We haven’t established too many holiday traditions since we’ve been together, we always just assumed that traditions would start when we had kids. But Valentine’s Day is different. Every year on Valentine’s Day Andy plans a fancy dinner and buys the ingredients to make it and then we have a fun time cooking it together and sitting down to candlelight to enjoy it. After dinner we usually lounge on the couch and watch a movie. It’s always one of my most favorite nights of the year. Cooking as a couple is always so much fun for us.
This year Andy’s menu consisted of Chicken Madeira, Butternut Squash Risotto and Asparagus. Chicken Madeira is one of my favorite things and I always order it at restaurants if they have it so I was pretty excited. Everything turned out great and we ended up having a fantastic Valentine’s Day!
Andy even sent me flowers to work and picked up some White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies- my favorite! He’s quite a catch and I’m sure glad he picked me.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day too! Sending lots of love your way.
