Let’s Play in the Leaves

fall is here

The evenings are cooler around here now and I find myself finally shutting some of the windows and making hot tea after dinner. Not looking forward to winter but I am looking forward to a fun filled weekend! What are you weekend plans? Do you like this time of year?

Holiday Party Time

holiday party

Around here people’s idea of getting dressed up is putting on the same thing you would wear to church- typically a skirt with a cotton shirt and some conservative flats. Sometimes I dream of living in New York where you really get dressed up for your holiday work party. Or is that just on TV? In any case. I feel very stifled fashion-wise (and in many other cultural ways) a lot of the time living here.

I feel like I can’t really wear the things that I like because then I’ll stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the jeans and t-shirts. It makes me sad. But if you’re lucky enough to live somewhere where dressing up actually means dressing up, then maybe this look would be perfect for your holiday party! You can send me photos of your elegant party and then I can just live vicariously through you, okay?

It's in the Bag

I just took my last final and I feel pretty good about it so I think this semester is in the bag! Looks like graduating on Friday is officially going to happen. I still have a six page paper to write tonight and turn in tomorrow but I can handle that. Can’t believe this is actually going to happen. They even gave me a license plate frame with ‘alumni’ written on it. Woo!!

As you can see I didn’t bother doing anything with my hair. Not only was it windy today but my hair always gets horribly staticky in the winter so I have to keep it under control by throwing it in a pony tail. Anyway, I was just going to class today so it’s nothing fancy. The heels might seem fancy but in reality the heel isn’t even an inch tall so they’re pretty simple.

Necklace from Forever 21
Shirt from Wet Seal
Earrings & Trench from Charlotte Russe
My favorite gold pumps are from Head Over Heels
Jeans from Vanity

Day 09: A Close Up of my Day.

This was such a busy day. It was the set up day for our annual book sale at work and I was also stuck in class all morning. Needless to say I didn’t end up with many pictures of my day. It was just one more thing to think about doing. But here is what I did take:

Photobucket
-sitting in class-

Photobucket
-waiting for class to start in the lounge of the art building-

Photobucket
-needed some fuel-

Photobucket
-I spent the rest of the day setting up for the book sale in the library-

Photobucket
-Resting at the cashier’s table-

Photobucket
-I was so glad when that day was over. I spent the evening studying for Russian history and watching the CMA Awards with a Moo Cat on my lap-

Day 08: The last thing I purchased.

Well, I’ve been absent for a couple of days and I need to catch up! The last items we purchased were some things to add to our winter wardrobe. Here’s one of the sweaters I got:

rain or snow

rain or snow

The days of rain/snow are just around the corner, when everything has that annoying slushy consistency. Instead of getting nice fluffy snowflakes, everything is just wet like it can’t decide if it’s raining or snowing and instead of seeing beautiful blankets of white everywhere, the world just looks grimy and dirty. The only way you can survive days like that is with an umbrella and some galoshes. I put this look together after finding this super cute Missoni umbrella. I imagine parking myself in a coffee shop corner reading and writing for hours, avoiding any nasty weather.

a sweater makes all the difference

It's coming

The weather has stayed pretty nice around these parts so far. In fact, I haven’t really needed my winter coat yet. A sweater usually seems to do the trick. But I heard that the forecast calls for a little flurry of snow tomorrow. Good thing it will be Saturday and I’ll be curled up on my couch with a book.

What are your plans for the weekend?
